Low Lay Chin
Upon graduating from NUS with BAcc(Hons) in 1983, Lay Chin worked in an International Audit Firm and later in a Multi-National Company. After getting her accreditation as a CPA in Singapore, she joined the School of Accountancy in NUS and later in NTU as a teaching staff.
She enjoyed her teaching experience. However in early 1996, in answer to a deep yearning to work with the poor and marginalized in rural areas, she moved to Yunnan Province in China, together with her husband and children, to be part of a community development team that serve the marginalized communities of leprosy affected, orphans and poverty affected farmers in remote regions. Their plan to stay for a couple of years eventually became a 15-year stay. Having relocated back to Singapore at the end of 2010, and having settled her two teenage children back to the school system in Singapore, she is venturing back to something she enjoys - teaching. |
